WWDC Keynote Roundup

unknown1.jpeg

For those of you who read my post about what i was expecting from Apple during the keynote @WWDC2016; Bless you. For those of you who are grading my predictions; I got 5/5. But, lets be honest Apple isn’t keeping much of this information secret. But, that doesn’t mean Apple didn’t announce anything exciting.

watch OS3 looks phenomenal! The enhancements in iOS10 are fantastic. To top it all off; I love the way Apple strives to give the user a consistent experience on all their platforms. I look forward to the future software releases. But, I can’t wait to see what the Fall holds.

✅Siri Update

Developers will finally get to add Siri functionality to their application.

✅Apple Music Update

To build upon the current subscriber base there will be a refresh to how the music streaming ap looks and new features.

✅No New Hardware

WWDC is a software conference. So, any hardware announcements will surprise me.

✅New OSs

OS X, tvOS, watchOS, and iOS will get new features and new functionality. Also look for new ways for developers to monetize their applications on all platforms.

✅OSX has a new nameUnknown.png

Rumors say the folks at Cupertino are feeling nostalgic and will rebrand the operating system for their personal computer to MacOS macOS.

WWDC 2016 Predictions

unknown1.jpeg

It is the time of year for pontificating about the company from Cupertino, CA. Apple’s World Wide Developer’s Conference is set to start today. (You can catch the live stream here.) Many times leading up to this conference there is an electricity in the air and people waiting with bated breath; this year… not so much. Almost every prognosticator is saying Apple will not reveal anything exciting this year. Here is what I expect:

Cheap Dates

AdobeStock_76614283.jpegI love my wife. I am not a cheapskate. There is always an unplanned expense to put a kink in your plans. This Thursday is our anniversary and our AC is on the fritz.

So, I’m putting together a list of cheap dates. Feel free to steal these ideas. I’m really putting a list of cheap dates together as a kind of play book. When we have a chance my wife and I can pick a play and have a blast with each other.

This is by no means a comprehensive list. So, please leave your ideas in the comments.

Google Roulette

Want to live on the edge? Grab your date and make a game for you two to play. Have her pick out two action verbs, two cities within 15 minutes, and two food items. You do the same. Take your options and randomly, or purposefully link the three together.

You’ll have something like “running tacos Washington, D.C.”, or “flying pizza Orlando.” Type your phrase into google and pick the best option within the top three results.

Watch the sunset

Go mini golfing

Take photos of one another in a scenic location

Play on a playground

Attend a free concert

Stroll through a college campus

WWDC Roundup

As you may know Apple held it’s World Wide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) Recently. I made some predictions about what the would see at the keynote announcement.  Let’s recap my predictions and some of the other cool stuff announced at this year’s WWDC.

  • We will see a new music service

CHECK: The new Music service will launch this month.

MISS:

  • No video streaming service

CHECK: There was NO new video service announced at WWDC.

  • No new TV

CHECK:  I don’t expect a new TV until Apple can revolutionize content delivery.

  • Native apps for watch

CHECK: The things that are coming in watchOS2 are awesome!

  • Possibly native apps for TV

MISS:  This was a shot in the dark, honestly.

  • iOS 9

CHECK:  No-brainer, right.  This version of iOS is huge for iPad. It brings split screen multitasking to the iPad.

  • An improved spotlight search
  • An improved Siri
  • Something akin to Google Now

CHECK, CHECK, CHECK:   Apple announced Intelligence  and it is awesome. It’s location aware and it will search inside other apps. This is a huge. I was a big spotlight fan. If Intelegence brings the results as promised I will continue to be.

  • OS X 10.11

CHECK:  OS X 10.11 is named El Capitan and it brings some great new features.

  • Refresh for Mac Mini
  • Refresh for Mac Pro

MISS:  It has been over 240 days since the Mac Mini release, and over 540 days since the Mac Pro release so it was worth speculating that they would be released.1
