Apple Announcement Predictions Recap

A couple days ago I made some predictions about today’s announcement. Lets look at my predictions and see how accurate they were.

1. iOS 6 (I know big shocker) Included here, however is any new additions to iCloud functionality that will be announced for the rest of this year. Like a new streaming service, etc, et. al.

This was a gimme. iOS6 was previewed at WWDC this year. So, I counting it as right. There were many enhancements to the OS. I do not recall seeing a streaming service. +1 if you are counting.

2. The new iPhone. I think the 6th generation of the iPhone will be named “the new iPhone.” and it will be the elongated form factor with a larger screen that is circulating on the internets. Like this one

New iPhone; Check. The sixth generation of the phone is the named iPhone 5. So, +1, -1.

3. a new iPod Touch. Since, I expect form factor change in the iPhone Then, I expect at minimum a refresh of the the current iPod Touch model. Possibly a redesign for iPod Touch as well(although I’m not expecting this.)

New iPod Touch! last year’s model is the same price, and this years is $199? Really?

4. Refresh of  iPod Nano (possibly running a version of iOS)

New iPod Nano! This is a device looks great! Multi touch screen, Enough room to watch a video. Bluetooth support. This  is a home run as a media player. Home run, Apple! +1

5. tv runs iOS 6

Total Miss. No tv at today’s event. -1

Bonus Points: I do not think there will be an announcement of a the so called “iPad mini” or a full blown tv unless it is a teaser. Unless Tim Cook says “One more thing.” I do not expect to see a new product from Apple. I think if they mention a new product it will be to direct attention to a product specific launch event. Further, I don’t think we see an “iPad mini” until we see the next generation of iPad. I don’t think we see an full grown tv until Apple can revolutionize content delivery. But, I’m also secretly hoping that I am wrong.

No tv, or “iPad mini” at today’s event, and No One more thing. So, can I count this as +2? with bonus points that’d be an A+ if you’re grading 😉

I am excited about the new apple products. I can’t wait to see them in person. Can you say evaluation unit, Apple?

My Apple Announcement Predictions

It's Almost Here

The invatation from Apple says “it’s almost here.”The Yerba Buena center in San Francisco  is decorated. The big announcement from Apple will take place on Wednesday. So, I’ll take a stab at predicting what we will see on stage.

Using the invatation and the Yerba Buena center’s decorations a guide I think we’ll see 5 things, and they are all iOS.

  1. iOS 6 (I know big shocker) Included here, however is any new additions to iCloud functionality that will be announced for the rest of this year. Like a new streaming service, etc, et. al.
  2. the new iPhone. I think the 6th generation of the iPhone will be named “the new iPhone.” and it will be the elongated form factor with a larger screen that is circulating on the internets. Like this one

  4. Refresh of  iPod Nano (possibly running a version of iOS)
  5. tv runs iOS 6

I do not think there will be an announcement of a the so called “iPad mini” or a full blown tv unless it is a teaser. I’ll post post an update after the announcement to see just how accurate I was.

John 1:4,5

The following is a continuation of my personal journey through John.

4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.

5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

Originally, from the beginning, life was found in the  λογος, Christ. Further, Salvation is found in Him. He came to this place corrupted by sin and operated as a The Light to both reveal our sins, and save us from our sins. The powers of this world could not overpower it.

Good stuff. I love the Bible and the Gospel of John.

John 1:2,3

Building upon yesterday’s post; I am still so amazed by the Gospel of John.

2 He was in the beginning with God.

3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. Read More Here

So, here Christ was not only with God in the beginning of this reality. There was not a single  component of this reality that came into existence without Christ creating it.

This indicates that God is ultimately in control.  Here’s my prayer.

But You, O Lord, are a shield about me,

My glory, and the One who lifts my head.

Psalm 3:3

bible, Christ

John 1:1

I love the Bible. I truly believe it is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword(Heb4:12). The Bible transforms lives. One of my favorite Books of the Bible is the Gospel John. This simple verse so profound that understanding it will marks your life forever.

John 1:1 (NASB95)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

At the point which time as we know it began was the Word (λόγος in the greek) and the Word (λόγος) was there with God, and Word was (λόγος) in fact, God.

To is earth-shaking concept! It was very important to the greeks  Λόγος, was a very important concept in Hellenistic culture, as explained by many scholars (like this one). In a very dualistic culture John is laying it out up front that there is no separation between God and Christ. Ιn fact this λόγος the ultimate knowledge, is God. And oh by the way, God is Christ.

It is also a a very important concept today.  Here is a brief definition from the Dictionary of Biblical Languages With Semantic Domains;

3364 λόγος (logos), statement, that which is said, speech, the act. of speaking, gospel, the content of what is preached about Christ, treatise, systematic treatment of a subject, Word, Message, a title for Christ, reason, a cause for something.

The Almighty Maker of Heaven, and Earth is God and God is Christ. They are not separate.   He who made humanity from the dust of the earth and breathed life into us is the same loving God who sent Christ and created a way for redemption .

WOW! Rich stuff. Thank you Dr. Stevens for teaching Greek.

I am studying Greek this semester, and I pray the original language deepens my love for the scripture.
